2012 Nissan Versa price starts at $10,990

Nissan has announced pricing for the new 2012 Nissan Versa, which starts at just $10,990 for the base Versa 1.6 S 5MT. While that may be just a little more than the outgoing Versa, the new entry-level model doesn’t get stripped of important things in 2011 including standard air conditioning, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system.
When compared to its competitors, the 2012 Nissan Versa is the cheapest of the bunch with the Ford Fiesta starting at $13,200, Toyota Yaris starting at $13,155 and the Hyundai Accent starting at $14,195.
The new 2012 Versa Sedan is available in three models – 1.6 S, 1.6 SV and 1.6 SL – and is scheduled to go on sale in early August.

• Versa Sedan 1.6 S 5MT: $10,990.
• Versa Sedan 1.6 S CVT: $12,760.
• Versa Sedan 1.6 SV CVT: $14,560.
• Versa Sedan1.8 SL CVT: 15,560.

Power for the 2012 Nissan Versa comes from a 1.6-liter HR16DE 4-cylinder engine making 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual transmission (1.6 S model only) and a next-generation Xtronic CVT transmission. EPA rater fuel-economy for the Versa Sedan comes in at 30/38/33 mpg (city/highway/combined) with the CVT transmission and 27/36/30 mpg with the 5-speed manual transmission.
Inside, the 2012 Nissan Versa gets 60/40-split fold-down rear seat and available Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, XM Satellite Radio (XM subscription required, sold separately) and an in-dash 5-inch touch-screen navigation system with XM NavTraffic (XM subscription required, sold separately) and USB input for iPod and other compatible devices.
Prices for the 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback will be announced later this month.
